Three times someone has tried to break into my house in the past month?

I would tell the council and think about being moved, or install a burglar alarm. A good one may not come cheaply, but it'll certainly do it's job well. Unfortunately if your house is a target, they'll keep trying, so it's best to up security. If you don't have double glazing get it installed. And leave a light on somewhere in the house that can be seen from the outside. It'll fool them into thinking someone's in. When you're at work try to ring your home phone a couple of times. If someone is entertaining the idea of breaking in, it'll frighten them off. It's possible someone was keeping track of your movements, so look around you before locking your door and try not to look as though you're in a hurry to leave. Remove anything that can be used as an instrument to break into your house, so maybe lock it inside the house in a cupboard or something. If you can get a friend that's available to check on your house a few times a day too, or even just to spend a couple of nights with you, let them. Most importantly tell the police and the council your house has been targeted 3 times in the past month, and they may help out with the costs of extra security, and arrange regular patrols. A dog will also be a good bet, there's certain breeds that don't need constant entertainment. I really hope they've given up. Your house is your domain, and no one has the right to just break in. It's a horrible thought you're not safe in your own home, and i don't want anyone to feel that way. Take care sweetie.
